Brown Eyes

I guess brown eyes aren't that common in cats. Generally they are a case of the transition between the blue eyes kittens are typically born with, and the gold or green of adult cats. Usually this is complete buy the time the kitties are this age, but just in case, I wanted to get some shots showing their eyes.

Kelsie

And the two of them together ..... Kelsie was done posing, thank you very much.

No Kittens in This Post

Rumor has it that some people think I have become a bit obsessed with the kittens. So here is a post with some favorite non-kitten shots from this summer.

This was a lucky shot, the butterfly landed just as I was about to take the shot.

A lap full of kittens!

They are turning into quite the cuddlers! And if one climbs up, the other has to get in there too.

Oh, and not to forget Lic!

Priceless

A different clip than below ......

kitten Acrobatics

The soundtrack was just incidental. Glee was on the television. I haven't edited this, after 60 seconds or so, just click stop. (If you make it that far, LOL)

Meeting More Friends

The kittens met Melissa. Not taking them long to warm up.

Can you find TWO kittens in this shot?

It is funny. With people, it is"red eye". My dog gets "green eye" yet the kittens get "blue eye"???

Ahhhh ..... outside.

On TOP of the beds .......

Megan stayed over on Friday night. She woke up yesterday morning to a little furry face peering up at her. Thanks to Megan's example, they figured out that they were sleeping on the wrong side of the beds ....

Beds aren't for sleeping UNDER .... they are to sleep on TOP of.

Here is a shot of them hiding in the pile of pillows on Meli's bed.

They have spent most of the day hanging out in the living room. Plenty of room for when suddenly the Tazmanian devil possesses them, and they rush around up and down the hall, up over the sofa, down across Don at top speed , and jump on a sistrer's head.

Sara, the fuzzy one is still more outgoing, she likes to snuggle, and will search out a lap. Kelsi is more stand offish .... but she started purring (against her will I suspect) when I was cuddling her today.

A cozy lap:

Lic really wants to be friends. Sara isn't quite sure. Kelsie won't get this close.

Whose kittens?

Sara ...

freedom

Well, we gave them the run of the upstairs yesterday afternoon. Well except for my room that is, considering I am probably allergic to them, am considering not letting them sleep on my bed this time around. We will see how that works, LOL.

They still aren't sure about the living room. Too much open space. But are fascinated with the floor of my shower. Go figure. And the hall gives them a lot more space to run like mad and jump on each other's heads.

Sara has made friends with Licorice, but Kelsie is still afraid of her. Last night Lic was between her and safety (the bedroom). She didn;t know what to do, and then finally made a mad dash UNDER Lic's legs for the door! But this afternoon Lic was the one who was startled. She was hanging out in her new favorite spot. The corner by the closet in the living room, with her head under the sofa, when Kelsie came up behind her. Kelsie headed for the bedroom like a streak of ligntening, and Lic ended up under the sofa. Almost thought she was stuck .... but she managed to comando crawl out.

And of course it wouldn;t be a blog post without pictures .....

An open door policy:

Sara and Lic making friends ......

I guess I could start a company making cat toys .....

note .... they don;t have blue eyes, something w/ the photo editing. They are brown eyes babies.

OK, update on the kittens. They are out from under the bed. Yesterday they started coming out if I went in the room and enticed them out by playing with one of the ribbon toys, and by last night the would come poking out when I opened the door. We moved the gate tonight, and they have the run of the back half of the house, Licorice is in the living room right now. So far they have only met over the gate.

Up until today, Kelsie was much braver exploring. But last night Sara decided laps were nice .... wow does she have a loud purr!! And this afternoon, before I moved the gate, she scaled it, at was standing with 2 feet on the top of the gate, and 2 on my lap, not too sure were to go next. But she jumped down, explored a bit, and then scared herself and rushed back. Meanwhile sister was trying to figure how she escaped.

But at the moment they are lost in Meg;s room. Probably wore themselves out and are asleep under the bed. :)

ps ...yup, thats what happened. Here are a few shots of them playing before they crashed for the night.

Kittens!!

Yup, we just got two kittens. An anniversary present from my daughter, to fill the empty nest.

Sunday they pretty much hid under the bed, only coming out to eat and when Don lay on the floor and enticed them out. Monday they were a bit braver. They would let me pick them up, although not too thrilled about it. They like chasing the paper and foil bits tied on ribbon, and like the ribbon ends best. Licorice is very curious, and wants to meet them. They aren't too sure yet. A little hissing over the baby gate, and a lot of hiding.

Tuesday they seem to be making themselves at home. The drawer under the bed has been chosen over the box with the blanket, so Don spread the blanket in there. It is also the perfect spot to sneak up on the ribbon toy, or to pounce on a sister!

Don named the slightly fuzzier one Sara. She is a little more skittish, The other one is a bit smaller, and much braver. I decided she is Casey or maybe Kelsie. (Still thinking). Irish for 'brave one".

They are fast getting used to the flash on my camera. Yes, I have been taking pictures. But it is also the only was I can look under the bed to figure out where they are. This afternoon after a couple of shots, they come out to visit and play. May become a pavlov's bell effect?? Sara will even settle into my lap and purr, but Kelsie is in a hurry to get down .....

Here are a few pictures ........

Hiding out under the bed:

Me, peeking w. the camera to see where they were:

The ribbon was more fun than the paper!

I liked the blur I got from shooting in low light, but here is one w. flash so you can see them better.

More playing with the ribbon ..... again I like the blur I am getting shooting in ambient light, but I will include a flash shot as well.
